You know how I entered into the “let’s read The Circle of Seasons over the course of the year” with no plan, right?
First of all, I’m loving that for each week of Advent, the book is only a few pages. So, I’m feeling good about keeping up with one thing in my life.
I’m enjoying the slow walk and instead of rushing from theme to theme. With Britta and you, we are leaning into the ways Advent can realign our souls.
For those who have asked, “Who is Britta?” We met this summer at the Declare Conference in Dallas. She is working on a Lenten project called Meet Me in the Middle and since my blog has the word “middle” in it our ears perked up when we met each other. She invited me to join a Skype group of creative professionals who want accountability, encouragement, and help. The group meets for an hour twice a month. When I got excited about Kimberlee’s book and the church calendar, Britta emailed saying, “Hey, I tried to do Advent last year, but by myself I petered out. Want to try it together?”
Sure! Today we have another 10 minute video about this week’s Advent theme of prepare and peace. Small mercies, Britta figured out how to have a split screen and the audio is better … we’re improving. The question we wrestled with is how do you prepare and have peace for the unexpected curveballs of life?
Enjoy episode 2 and if you’re reading this in an email, click here to view. I promise to work on looking less like a creepy serial killer at the beginning :) and buy a microphone before the second coming of Christ. I will also sit on my hands. Promise.
How have you noticed being prepared in your life this week? Is peace there? If not (and sometimes it just is not there), how would peace make a difference to you now?
Peace :),
Amy
It was great seeing your smiling face, Amy :) I enjoyed the talk and loved how the themes in the two books really fit together. It’s inspiring to see the interaction between you and Britta. I missed the first one, so I’m going to watch it, too.
Thanks Gayl, we’re enjoying how they interact too! Pretty neat to see the weaving of the spirit!
Amy, I, too, love that K’s book is short and sweet….tidbits that are tastes of goodness instead of an overwhelming meal.
We had HOme Group at our house last Wednesday and my husband and I hauled out the Christmas boxes and did some decking of the halls (and the house). My snowmen are under the tree and the train is set up for the grandkids. That always makes me happy.
How to prepare to receive our Saviour? We don’t ‘do’ advent here per se, but in my heart I am preparing Him room, reading and writing. I found a little book by Jessica Griffiths that’s like a day book of grace for 2016, but it begins with Advent. Little reflections for each day–I’m enjoying that, as it includes the passages from the Book of Common Prayer–also new to me.
It’s all good, yes, ’cause it’s all God.
(I will be back to look at your video–what a brilliant idea!)
