It’s spring break in our neck of the woods. Though I don’t have spring break in the ways I did as a student and teacher, it’s part of my annual biological clock :)! Welcome to spring break of The Messy Middle and two commercials I’ve seen recently that I feel compelled to share with everyone I know because they are that good.
The first commercial I saw last Thursday night watching March Madness. It was a (great) pity I was alone because I howled and it was one of those experiences you want to share. Immediately. With the whole wide world. Since then I’ve, perhaps, been known to pull it up on my smart phone and shove it into people’s hands saying, “Go watch this in the bathroom so you can hear better.”
Enjoy! If you can’t see it, click here.
Isn’t that a hoot! When I picture a top hat on a cat and the look on the boss’s face, I can’t help but laugh.
This next one was shown at the Writer’s Conference from a few weeks ago. Watch this and feel empowered over the difference you can make just by being plugged into the relationships you have. If you can’t see it, click here.
#HowToDad.
#LoveIt.
#HowToFriend. #HowToMom. #HowToTeach. #HowToLibrarian. #HowToDoAnything. It might not be spring break in your neck of the woods, but may these commercials bring a smile to your face and remind you that what you are doing, even in the midst of the messy middle, matters!
Did you laugh out loud? Do you feel empowered? What videos should I see?!
Well, you probably assumed (correctly) that I laughed out loud at the cat commercial. Would have loved to share it with you. Being easily entertained is one of our very likable qualities!!! Keep laughing!
Hahaha :) … it’s true! I am easily entertained!. Don’t know if it’s one of my better qualities, but I”m always on the look for a good laugh and those who will laugh with me. You have a great laugh JoDee!
I loved both of those.
Check the one below that my whole family went crazy over. :)

Mark, just two days ago i took a picture of a book cover that I think might be related to this video! I was going to use it for the Velvet Ashes book club when we get to the chapter on Expectations and Co-workers. I love this video! And I’m also going to use it in the post :). Thanks :)!
They look up to us…because we’re taller :) Very funny. I love how you live life out loud, including by laughing out loud when your funny bone is tickled. Thanks for sharing!
You know I laughed at that line!!! Very funny indeed :). Love you Laura! You make me laugh too — I know you don’t always mean to, but you’re funny!
Oh man, my dream would be to direct a commercial like the Cheerios one! I love the message, the movement, the music and all for PB cheerios….which are pretty amazing, let’s be honest.
Being a crafter of words, I think you’ll like this video…
That was a great video Lisa!
Message, movement, music. With your quick wit, you could do it! And cheerios are yummy :). Thanks for the video link … you’re right, I love it! All through it I was wondering what she’d written! (which I know was kind of the point. Ha!). Great example of reframing!
Not life-shattering (pun) at all, but I saw this commercial just after reading your post, and laughed/winced. It’s that pseudo-karma feeling when your own bad attitude turns on you. And costs. And you can’t deny complete responsibility. ugh. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot8OmHTGUbU

When your own bad attitude comes back at you, karma-like, and there just ain’t any denying it’s your own darn fault. Ugh. :)
