Hello Messy Middler :),
We have been writing so many thank you notes in the wake of generosity after Dad’s death, the main way I think these days is in letters and notes. Not so much blog posts. So, if I think, I need to write a post, I’m a bit stuck. But if I think I just have a few things to share, I can do it. I don’t know how long these “Monday letters” will continue; all I can say for sure is, here’s another one. A letter seems a warmer way to update you on several going-ons for this week (and spares you needing the super power of reading my mind!).
1. The road trip to Kansas was soul-feeding. I haven’t driven alone for that distance in decades and wondered how it would go. More on the trip itself another time, but one of the parts of American life I ADORE, is a good road trip. And the speaking went well at all four events. So good to see old friends, make new ones, and slip right back into a group of people that feel like home.
2. You know I lead the book group at Velvet Ashes on Tuesdays. Right? Right. If you forgot, no biggie. We are starting a new book this week and I wanted to invite you to join in (or at least check it out). If you haven’t heard of Brene’ Brown and The gifts of imperfection, you are in for a treat! She’s given two amazing TED Talks, you can watch. The book club post is on Tuesdays China time/ Monday afternoon America time, but you can pop in and comment all week.
3. Can you believe it’s been four weeks this Wednesday since Dad died? In honor of the one month anniversary I’m going to post what my sister Laura shared about his life tomorrow and a video of me speaking at his service on Wednesday.
4. Friday I’m going to join in with Velvet Ashes theme for the week: fear. So, be thinking about fear this week and we can chat about it the end of the week.

Eating (or hugging) the best pizza in the world. No exaggeration. None.

My name tag from the converence
Ok, I’m not sure if this is a letter so much as a pretty list. But at this point, I’m delightfully exhausted after a weekend of speaking and celebrating being in Lawrence, Kansas (but NOT celebrating the Jayhawks losing on Saturday night. Come on!) and reminded God is in the business of walking with us for a life time. Pretty list is the best I can offer :).
If you read this on Monday in America, I’ll be driving back across the country, listening to books on CD. What’s on your pretty list for the week?
With a {frozen} Kansas spring in my step! Amy
Not sure if this passes as part of a “pretty list.” I’m responding to your mention of listening to books on CD. I’m currently listening to the audiobook of Lyle W. Dorsett’s biography of A.W. Tozer, “A Passion for God.” Incredible! I’m only through chapter 4 of 8, and time and time again I’m amazed at his life!
Top on my pretty list is getting to see you later this week! Of course, there’s a pretty packing sub list to go with it :).
