Ultimate π — Do you feel the EXCITEMENT building?

Woot, woot! It’s that time of year again! π Day is every March 14th (3.14, get it?! Love it!?).

But this year, this is year is the Ultimate π Day! Why, you might ask? Pi is 3.141592… making this year 3.14.15! I know, I know, throughout history many have lived, but will not have the joy of living through the ultimate π day. What are YOU going to be doing on Saturday around 9:26 in the morning? If your answer is eat pie, now you’re talking :)

pi

In case you’re a bit rusty on math, π comes from taking the circumference of a circle and dividing it by its diameter.  π never stops, never repeats, is irrational (in the mathematical sense, not emotionally), you always see something different and it is quite mysterious.  Is that not a beautiful description of God? That every single circle literally radiates the glory and majesty of God is, simply, breath taking.

Stop and just glance around you, how many circles do you see? I see them in

the opening of a vase
the base of my timer
the top of a small table
the power chord plug for my computer
wall clock
my pen
a plate

Each item mentioned contains π. Can’t help it. Can’t stop it. Every single circle holds infinity. Meditate on that today! A stop light? Not just one, but three circles declaring the glory of their Maker. A meal, don’t even get me going with all of the circles.

For a bit of fun to kick us off here’s a video hosted by Danica McKellar (of the Wonder Years) and has a fun rendition of “Dance of the Sugar Pi Fairies.” Thanks to my sister Laura for sharing it with me! If you’re reading this as an email, click here.

This week we have this to look forward to: Pi songs, Pi jokes, Pi cartoons, Pi t-shirts, and Pi-ku.

Remember Hai ku? 5-7-5? Well Pi-ku is 3-1-4.

To prime the pump, I’ll share previous submissions. Start working on yours now :).

Can’t wait to hang out with you in the comments! What did you think of the Sugar Pi Fairies? What plans do you have for the week? Not only will I be having fun here, I’ve got my “Ultimate Pi” t-shirt I’ll be wearing EVERY DAY this week and my English conversation class on Thursday will be having some Pi fun!

Look at all the fun Pi offers :). Thank you God for your fun creative hand seen in this aspect of your creation! Amen and amen.

What’s your favorite type of pie? (Ha! I just wrote “what’s your favorite type of pi.” Oh, we’re off to a good time!)

Oh! My! Cow! That Sugar Pi Fairies video was SO hilarious, I had to watch another… on binary numbers!! I could waste the whole day doing this!

My week is filled with getting ready for my husband to go into the hospital (3/12) to have surgery on his right knee. He will be at the hospital for 3-4 days, then be transferred to a physical therapy center for 2-3 weeks. This will be the first time we have been apart for more than several hours. I work nights so I don’t know how to work visiting him in with my sleep schedule, plus he is the finance keeper and I will have to do it while he is gone from home
