GRANDMA, GRANDPA, AUNTAMY I LOVE YOU. Written in kindergarten handwriting. Taped next to the message was a scrunched up dollar bill.
A modern day widow’s mite and act of generosity.
It’s easier to see in children — generosity is not about the amount, but the motive. But it’s no less true in adults.
Our giving has been infiltrated by guilt, compulsion, and comparison, all enemies of generosity.
Our lack of giving has been poisoned with equally harmful lies of greed and scarcity. If I share with you, will I have enough?
Eden Regained will be a place of generosity with time, insight, resources, talents and encouragement.
We haven’t had the heart yet to take the dollar bill off of our note because it is worth far more scrunched up and taped than in circulation.
What act of generosity have you received recently?

I work in a small rural clinic in the mountains of El Salvador. The clinic is free. The medicine is free. Nothing is ever expected but when the poor bring in fruit for the doctor or me, I smile. It warms my heart more than money ever has. It’s a beautiful, simple gesture of kindness.
I love that!
Amy,
I want to be a generous person. I want to give without the giving being “clouded”. I don’t want to give to get. I want to be generous with more than just my money. I am encouraged when I see someone being generous. I generosity always is much more than whatever the gift was. I think encouragement and good will sprout from that act.
