Communion and Ice Cream {at the intersection of holy and ordinary}

Today I’m back at Ed Cyzewski’s  in.a.mirror.dimly. Ed, maybe unbeknownst to him, has become one of my writing patrons. He also became someone I’d go to the mat for after I first guest posted in the risky post  In which we have a frank chat about my marital status. If you read through all of the comments (on both this site and Ed’s), you’ll note that it was, shall we say, a bit polarizing. There were times Ed stepped in and said, “and we are now off topic, let’s keep this civil.” To my great delight, he didn’t laugh when I suggested another post saying, “wasn’t once with you enough?!”  Instead he responded, “bring it!”

I used to love Thursday nights when I was a kid. My parents were part of a five couple bible study that met every two weeks. For my sisters and me, this meant a babysitter, ice-cream and The Waltons (translation: basically, we lived the good life). Unless. Unless it was our parents turn to host. On those nights, we were banished to the upstairs and told (probably asked, but that’s not how I remember it) to ….(finish that sentence here).

    Thank you Amy. I’m blessed that you call me your patron. Ha! I’ll just try to not be “patronizing”… :)
